  1. As a warning to you all... I am very much a newbie to this but have studied the guides to try understand the process.

I have a number of clips with some in AVI and others MPG that I wish to put on to the same SVCD. What would people suggest as the best way of carrying this out? (Preferably not "don't")

I tried to do a VirtualDub "Save as AVI..." but got some error (think it was related to the audio but can't check to confirm the error until tonight). Would this be an appropriate approach or is there a far wiser method?

I assume the MPG files need to be converted to MPEG-II first? Is there a tool to carry out such?

If this turns out to have an obvious answer... my apologies!

    Thanks in Advance

  3. Thanks, but the closest I can come up with from that guide is to just load the MPG file in to TMPGenc and convert, have I grasped the right straw?

    Thanks again

  5. I do, have no problem with the AVI part of it. What I want to do is have both the AVI and MPG files converted on to a SVCD (together). But if tmpgenc is happy to run through an MPG file then fantastic, will give it a run asap.

On that note, I assume there won't be issues with audio like can be experienced with AVI or is it possible the MPG won't convert?

    Thanks all!

  6. Just use the standard svcd template in TMPG. As long as the audio in your original files are not AC3 or VBR TMPG will convert it to svcd standard without protest.
