    hi,
    i captured my vhs footage using dvd movie factory 2 to dvd format. i use all the standard settings in the dvd mf2 software as i am quite new to dvd authoring so am not sure about some of it. anyway i capture my video, i watch it on my computer to make sure audio is synched with the video, that seems to be ok. i do get trail movement on the picture in the video file sometimes when something in the movie moves across the screen fairly quickly. for instance a hand going across the screen leaves a trail behind it. rather like the trail your mouse leaves on the screen when you set the mouse options to show a pointer trail. the trail problem gets worse when i burn the actual dvd from the file. i burn it with dvd mf 2 and i set the burning speed to max which for my nec 1100a burner would be 4x. i am using 4x +r dvd discs.
    does anybody have any ideas as to why i am getting these trails on the video? is it anything to do with bitrate or something like that?
    could it be my processor speed? i am using an amd xp1600 on a jetway 266b mb with 512mb ram. i capture to a slave hdd which is 30 gig and 7200rpm. if anybody can offer any suggestions i would really like to hear them.
    thanks

  2. Questions:

    1. Are you capturing from an OHCI compliant IEEE 1394 card or some other type of capture board?

    2. Which capture plug-in do you have selected in Ulead DVD MovieFactory 2?

    3. What are the precise capture settings that you have specified in Ulead DVD MovieFactory 2?

    For example, when I work with video recorded in my Panasonic VDR-M30 DVD disc camcorder, I observe the following precise properties:

    NTSC drop frame (29.97 fps)
    MPEG files
    24 Bits, 704 x 480, 29.97 fps
    Field Order B
    (DVD-NTSC), 4 : 3
    Video data rate: Variable (Max. 8800 kbps)
    Audio data rate: 256 kbps
    MPEG audio layer 2, 48 KHz, Stereo

    In addition, I have enabled ADVANCED MPEG encoding capabilities in Ulead DVD MovieFactory 2 (so that I can adjust more parameters).

    On my Windows 2000 computer...

    1. I clicked MY COMPUTER;

    2. I clicked my C: drive;

    3. I clicked the DOCUMENTS & SETTINGS folder;

    4. I clicked the ALL USERS folder;

    5. I clicked TOOLS > FOLDER OPTIONS and then clicked the VIEW tab to make sure Windows would show HIDDEN FILES AND FOLDERS;

    6. I clicked the APPLICATION DATA folder;

    7. I clicked the ULEAD SYSTEMS folder;

    8. I clicked the ULEAD DVD MOVIEFACTORY folder;

    9. I clicked the 2.01 folder;

    10. I clicked the DVDMF i-n-i file and then typed ADVANCE=1 under the [VIODRIVER] heading;

    11. I saved the i-n-i file;

    12. Then I closed Ulead DVD MovieFactory 2 and re-opened the program.

    Now when I enter the project settings, I see a new ADVANCE button under the COMPRESSION tab.

    This leads to the options to adjust the FIELD ORDER settings.

    Hope this helps,

    Jerry Jones

    hi i am using a leadtek winfast tv2000 xp deluxe capture card. when i try making this dvd i just select ne project as dvd, capture the vhs film to my hard drive, then select my menu settings for the dvd. then i just burn the dvd. i leave everything as default setting as i thought that i would nt need to change anything as i am just burning a dvd using the wizard type interface of dvd movie factory. do i need to muck about with settings then?
    also when you said you go to your c: drive and select documents & settings folder, i dont see that on my c drive. i take it you are talking about double clicking on the c drive icon? maybe windows 2000 is different, i am using windows 98se.
    i can make perfect svcd's with dvd movie factory 2 but when i try making a dvd it just makes the picture jerky and trailing in places. i cant understand why tho.
