I need to do a paper on image analysis where I need to compare two ad's. They have to have some sort of connection(and fairly easy to write about). So if you see any interesting ads for products(any products), please post the link here. Thanks.

  3. On a more serious note, how about picking ads from the same product, but are seperated by about 10 years. That should give you plenty of contrast with an obvious connection. The product would be identical, but the method would be greatly different.

Sweet movie!! Anthony Michael Hall played him perfect. Great ad. I'll have to keep that one.

okay, here you go - TV ad for Tampax Pearl, the one with the punchline "long line".

if you see it on daytime broadcast tv, the girl uses a roll of toilet paper to retrieve her fallen Tampax.

if you see it on MTV or VH1, she uses a line of strung-together "inferior" tampons to retrieve it.

different standards of acceptability for different networks and audiences?

    discuss.

Actually, there are two versions of this commercial, and both have been shown on all networks (but the TP one has seemed to replace the cheap "vampire teabag" version).

But then, I don't pay that much attention to this type of ad (like douche and feminine hygiene commercials).

normally, I don't either, but I thought this was a particularly gross one.

I just seem to see the toilet paper one on networks only, and the string-o'-tampons one on cable networks only... I haven't seen the crossover.

this is the bad thing about coming home for lunch... I end up watching Young & the Restless with my wife...

I don't have cable or satellite and I've seen both on broadcast channels.

  11. Another example of different standards for different networks is the somewhat famous Miller Catfight commercial. Two hot looking girls start fighting over wether the beer is great taste or less filling. It plyed during the last superbowl.

On cable TV networks there was a final scene where the girls, after tired and muddy from fighting, said "Let's make out". That was cut from the network TV version.

Its cool. Thanks for the help. I found two ads in a magazine. One is about vodka...its a golf course shaped like a vodka bottle and the slogan is "Absolute 19th"(for non golfers out there, after the 18th hole, some people hit the bar and call it the 19th hole) and the other is about some beer company. It shows two girls, one unattractive one in B&W and another hot one in color. Now, I gotta come up w/ a thesis. I'll get around to it sometime after my psych test tomorrow...AAAAAAAAH, TOO MUCH STUFF TO DO.
