  1. I purchased the Panasonic E80 a couple of weeks ago and I really like it. However, I am having a problem with copying DVD -R from the machine. I have tried Ritek's and two different Maxell's. The first Maxell I tried was 2X. These disks have worked great in my 4X DVD-R/-RW burner on my PC, but will not burn from the Panasonic. The program was copied at XP, with DVD-R compatibility turned on, then high-speed dubbed. I have gotten 4 out of 4 coasters from these. Reading through these forums it seems that these Maxell's may be counterfeit. Store bought (expensive) Maxells work fine. The Ritek's also did not work either. With the one that worked was able to make a copy using DVD Decrypter on my PC.

I just tried dubbing a program recorded at XP to DVD-RAM, without turning on DVD-R compatibility (made this recording before I knew about turning on the DVD-R compatibilitymode) and did a high speed dub to the DVD-RAM. I took this disk to PC and copied the .iso file using DVD Decrypter to hard drive and then burning the .iso file. This time there was a .iso file and a .msd file in the directory I saved the .iso file. I chose the .iso file then burned using DVD Decrypter. Everything appeared to go fine with the burning process, but the resulting DVD will not play in DVD player. I tried burning a couple of times and get the same results. I know I am probably missing something easy, but does anyone have any suggestions as to what I am doing wrong?

    Thanks!

  2. Not really but I think you have to rename some of those DVD-RAM files before they play. Try searching the board a little for DVD-RAM topics.

I use Accus dvd-r dvds, they are $80 for 100..... work perfect on Panasonics

  3. Have you finalized the DVD-Rs you burned on the Panasonic? Also, I don't believe you should be using DVD Decrypter for the DVD-RAM. It is best to copy the .vro file from the DVD-RAM to your PC hard drive, change it to an .mpg file, then author in your favorite authoring program. It sounds like DVD Decrypter made an iso image of your DVD-RAM, and then burned it onto a DVD-R. This process may have gone fine, except you now have a DVD-RAM image on a DVD-R and I doubt the recorder or any player will recognize it because a DVD-R isn't random access like a DVD-RAM disc.

If you are copying DVD-Rs that are finalized on the Panny, then I would use DVD Decrypter (that's what I do). I've never used Maxell, but I've burned quite a few Ritek G03 and BeAlls without incident. I think I've even done a couple of printable Accu's.

I've been fortunate not to make any coasters in the Panny, although it does occassional kickoff and go through a recover cycle when first starting to dub from HDD-->DVD-R.
