  1. This is my first time attempting to burn a XSVCD, so far Nero burned it without a hitch, but the problem is that my dvd player ( APEX AD-600a) wont play back Svcds burned with Nero, The XSVCD burned with Nero works on fine on others (APEX AD-3201) i've tried.

I've always used VCDImagerGUI to convert my mpegs and then used Fireburner or Alcohol 120% to burn them. This has always worked.

I haven't a clue what to now, because VCDImagerGUI will not convert the XSVCD it has an "Sanning mpeg error"

If anyone's been able to work around this problem and have a working XSVCD disc on an AD-600a it's be a great help if you shared how you did it, thanx.

Usually it does not matter what program you use to author your (s)VCD's they all have the same CD layout and files needed to 'tell' your DVD Player how to play your disk.

The question I ask you is are you 100% sure that your DVD Player can play XVCD's some players DO NOT support the format.

If you do not know try a search engine search, to find a website that has a TEST XSVCD like DVDrHelp has VCD/SVCD test CD's. This will allow you to test another persons XSVCD to see if your player supports the format. If it does not play then you will not be able to create cd's in that format. If it does post back, there may be a faul in NERO's settings etc.

  4. I have same problem with (S)VCDs burned with nero with my Baier DVD 903 player.

But I can burn (S)VCDs with Nero when I choose Burn image... and then choose .bin (not .cue) and then choose Data Mode 2
Maybe you can change settings to use Data Mode 2 with other burnings than just .bin files???

This is how you can burn (S)VCDs with Nero created with VDCImagerGUI
this wont help you the problem with XSVCDs but this might come useful someday.

I am looking too for software that could make images from XSVCDs and KVCDs
Next I am going to give a try to VCD Imager Tools (or something)

I sold my AD-600A because it was too sensitive to the brand of CDR used to burn XSVCD. Even standard SVCD worked only on some brands of CDR. Sell the AD-600A(it's over-rated anyway) and buy a Sampo 612,not the 612N. It will play XSVCD even when using DVD bitrate on XSVD,6000 average and 9800 maximum.

Using EazyVCD with TMPGenc to get the mpg2 files ready to burn as XSVCDs. I have an Apex-AD660 which does play XSVCDs but doesn't like certain "true, compliant" SVCDs; it stutters or loses A/V sync. However, these same SVCDs play perfectly in the Apex AD-1110W player. In fact, that player will replace my AD-660 as the AD-1110W seems to be happy with every format I've thrown at it. As this unit is only $47 at WalMart, how can you lose?

  8. VCDEASY did in fact enable me to burn the XSVCD, BUT the play back is all over the place. It slows down then speeds up and the audio seem to match up whenever it not slow, or speeding up. Is this just my dvd player.?

Yes, it probably is your DVD player. If it's not a fairly new one, SVCD and XSVCD will exhibit this behavior. The unit I like is the Apex AD-1110W ($47 at WalMart). It plays everything I burn.
