  1. Yeah I have a problem when viewing video or capturing video off my camcorder. The problem is on the right side of the video there is a green squiggly line. It sometimes doesnt show up or sometimes it shows then just vanishes and the video looks like normal, but most of the time it stays there the entire time I'm capturing video. I don't know why its there or what the problem is. Maybe its because I bought my firewire for $7.99 from Big Lots! I have no clue. When I view the video I recorded on my camcorder through the LCD I dont see that green line. Could it be my cheap firewire?

It could be a number of things, however I don't believe it is a problem unless you are experiencing other things. The line is not visible on the LCD (and, I'll wager, you TV) because it falls well outside the safe zones and into the overscan area. Mine produces similar, however the lines are black.

If possible, try transferring the same footage on another PC. If the lines don't show up, then replace the firewire card/cable. If it does, it is the camera. But again, I don't believe this to be a problem, just a different way of interpretting the dead edge of the signal.

I would say overscan but I haven't seen anyhting like that on any of my Digital footage. It's clean edge to edge.

Codec, firewire card ... likely to blame here.
Something on the digital side, not the video side.
