I just got some Ritek G04's off of Super Media Store and I checked the Media list here to compare ID's. The media ID I got from DVD Info was:

    00000000 00 42 00 00 01 40 C1 FD 9E D8 52 00 02 65 0E 0B .B...@....R..e..
    00000010 FE FF 80 00 03 52 49 54 45 4B 47 00 04 30 34 00 .....RITEKG..04.
    00000020 00 00 00 00 05 88 80 00 00 00 01 00 00 00 00 00 ................

Its close to both of the media codes provided for standard Ritek G04, and it seems pretty different from RIDATA. Oddly enough though, DVD Decrypter had RIDATA in its strings of information. Has anyone purchased these and had any luck (good or bad?) I know Ritek are generally very reliable DVD-R's but I just wanted to make sure these are genuine discs, not some type of knockoff. They are silver topped and purple bottomed, if that matters at all.

I just completed 3 successful 4X Burns on my girlfriends NEC 1300-A. My Toshiba SD1800 player loves 'em too so far...just thought I'd add this to here so if anyone was curious about the quality of them. So far, I'm happy.

  3. DeleriumMDK,
those are ritek's/ridata are the same thing...if you open DVD Decrypter it will say Ridata and also G04, if you have the silver tops with the purple bottoms (the UN-branned ones) if you look reallllllll carefully in the center it will say RIDATA in the clear plastic, the ones that are branned (ORANGE LOOKING) with black design's on them dont say it!! dont worry....I have used over 150 of these disks...and I LOVE them...

  4. Like Xdreamer said, look for the Ridata bane in the plastic part close to the center. If it's there, then you've got the real thing.

  5. I've recently bought a 50 pack of the Ritek G04 from the supermediastore.com. They are silver tops with purple bottoms. Came wrapped in red RiDATA plastic packaging (no spindle though). In the middle hub it's imprinted with RiData and their logo.

The only problem I have is that they don't seem to burn at 4x with my Sony DRU500AX.

It's the crap Sony drive that's the problem. I'm on my second Sony drive after the first one stopped burning at 4x then completely died a week later. My second drive stopped burning at 4x this week so I guess it's about ready to go belly up. My next Drive will be the NEC ND-1300a.
