  1. Any help here would be appreciated - I might be in the wrong area for this but here goes -

I have been backing up my dvd's for months now without a problem. Now all of a sudden most of the movies I back up start pixelating, usually in the middle of the movie, and then they just freeze altogether. I haven't changed media, or software, or anything. It just started doing this recently. Does anyone have any clue as to what to do?? I am using:

    Sony DRU510A
    Memorex DVD-R
    Smartripper
    DVD2One (if it's a DVD-9)
    and RecordNow DX

Like I said, I have been using the exact same thing since I started backing up my collection and have not had one problem until recently. When I burn the movie I always make sure that everything is off, including my firewall and antivirus, just to be safe, but it still isn't helping. Can anyone help me?

    Thanks,

    Kelly

  2. You say you havnt changed anything, including the media, but is it the same batch. Manufacturers often change dye formulas or produce bad batches and your problems do sound like media issues. Maybe try a different brand media, or maybe try cleaning the heads on your DVD player and maybe even on the burner. (not sure about that one tho!) Do your old discs still play OK?

Could be the media, my last batch of memorex DVD's, wouldn't show movies correctly , the movie during play would pixelate and then freeze up. All i did was switch to a different brand of media and the problem disappeared. Go figure, because i had used the same brand up to that point.

  4. bugster & peregrin:

It's definitely not the same batch I started out with. I've purchased I don't know how many more discs since I started backing up. Maybe it is a media issue. I just always stuck with Memorex because they worked great before, and I didn't want to mess with a good thing. Maybe I'll try a different brand and see what happens.

    Thanks for your help,
