  1. I am a newbie to the DVD writer game, I have an ATI Radeon All-in-Wonder card and a Pioneer DVR-105, I am simply trying to record TV shows and then transfer them to disc. They get recorded in MPEG1 or 2 quality but as avi files. All the software packages I have tried don't recognize the format or say the quality doesn't match. Nero, WinDVD, and a few others. I have not tried Sonic because they don't offer a demo. Does anyone else do this and if so how do you do it successfully. I will add one thing, I can successfully record in VCD and transfer it to CD but I am looking for better quality to transfer to DVD. Thanks for any help

  4. I record television programs with the vcd setting but with soap set as follows. Combo 1 at 60% and Sharp at 15%. This makes vcd video look nice instead of washed out. I then burn to DVD using Tmpgenc DVD author which accepts them for DVD. I get 7 hours on one DVD and am quite happy with the quality.

You are eprobably using the wierd ATI AVI format.
The video player that came with the ATI software
should play that. (And supply a codec for other apps to read it)
    Anyway nobody uses that stuff.
Capture to either PicVideoMJPEG AVI or MPEG2

  6. If he was using the ati format they would have the .ati extension.

bats18, look at Lordsmurfs guides. Start by going through the setup wizard again and choose mpg this time instead of avi as your default capture. If you look around in MMC settings you will find the setup wizard button.
