  1. Man I have searched and tried everything. I thought the newbies guide to fitting a movie on one cd using TMPGEnc would work but I have trouble.
I have many divix movies that are 600-to 650 mb. Whem I use the above guide and the projected file size I go down to 600 mb or so on bitrate. but every time I convert with TMPGnc I get a file 972 mb. I have tried forced film in dvd to avi. I have changed stream type to mpeg-1 video cd ect. How can I make this divix fit on one cd????????

I really don't care about that great of quality. How low do I have to go?

    thanks

Filesize depends only on the length of the clip times the bitrate. Do you use the wizard in TMPGEnc? If so, there is a bitrate screen where you adjust the bitrate to exactly fit a CD. If not, then you must use a bitrate calculator to figure what rate to use. You'll find a bitrate calculator in the "Tools" section of this site.

BTW, TMPGEnc ver. 2.59 had a bug which over-rode any bitrate settings for mpeg1. Check your version number.

  3. VCD isn't Divx and VCD has a fixed bitrate. There is no way you can fit a full length movie onto one CD. Divx on the other hand has no resolution or bitrate limits and it uses a completely different methode of compression. 99% of DVD players will not play divx.

You could make an SVCD fit on one cd but the quality would be total crap.

  4. Thanks for the replys. I do happen to have verson 2.59.47.155 so maybe this is it.

I just want to be able to backup some dvd's and vhs and have it on one cd if I can. Actually I don't watch vhs much anymore and would like to use the cd copy if I do watch it.

I will see about updating it.
