  1. Hi everyone,

I have researched this forum and unfortunately couldn't find anything that seemed to answer my problem. So apologies in advance if this question has been answered.

I have a DVD with two feature length films plus some trailors on it. There is no menu, simply a few chapters. 1 - the trailors 2 - Movie number 1 and 3 - movie number 2. I only want to back up one movie from this disc.

I normally use 0SEx 0.0110a1 for decryption and I have tried all the options in the "FMT" drop down to no avail. Does anybody know of a way to split out the one movie? If it's any help, the disks VIDEO_TS folder contains the following files:

    VTS_04_1.VOB
    VTS_04_0.IFO
    VTS_04_0.BUP
    VTS_03_1.VOB
    VTS_03_0.IFO
    VTS_03_0.BUP
    VTS_02_4.VOB
    VTS_02_3.VOB
    VTS_02_2.VOB
    VTS_02_1.VOB
    VIDEO_TS.BUP
    VTS_02_0.VOB
    VTS_02_0.IFO
    VTS_02_0.BUP
    VTS_01_4.VOB
    VTS_01_3.VOB
    VTS_01_2.VOB
    VTS_01_1.VOB
    VTS_01_0.VOB
    VTS_01_0.IFO
    VTS_01_0.BUP
    VIDEO_TS.IFO
    VIDEO_TS.VOB

    Thanks for any help!

  5. Thanks Galactica...got it! This is what is in the "Ti" drop down:

    01 [01:34:36.12] @25.00 FPS
    02 [01:26:25.12] @25.00 FPS
    03 [00:12:59.09] @25.00 FPS
    04 [00:00:26.21] @25.00 FPS

I'm not sure which of 01 or 02 is the movie that i want though.

    Hope this helps.

    Thanks!

Sorry... just got back from my vacation....

    honestly that a tough call.
i would just to both of them seperatly and see which one is yours.

likewise, you can view titles in VLC just insert your dvd, open VLC
and open the dvd with the OPEN DISC part of the FILE menu DVD should be chosen and open that

Then in CONTROLS you can choose the TITLES by selecting TITLE and then the number

choose 1 let it play and see what it is
choose 2 and let it play and see what it is.

then you can rip the title you want that way because you got to see what they are!

sometimes when you have two that are long like both 1 and 2 are its because you have a widescreen and a fullscreen both on the same disc. but sometimes not.

    either way hope this helps.

  8. hello
    http://www.macetvideo.com/yadex/dl_yade.html

this is the french program for os x called Yade (yet another dvd extractor)
it shows a "preview window" of "titles" on DVD discs but i think you may need the mpeg-2 playback component of quicktime in order to do this but try it anyway even if you haven't.

"Piste" seems to be french for title, you can even view down to further sublevels of he DVD if required (and then extract to a .VOB or m2v/ac3 components)
use google to search yadex and dvd then click on the "translate this page link" for
    http://www.macetvideo.com/yadex/yadex.html
unless you speak french of course. The page shows a screenshot and some explanations.

VLC is free and doesn't require anything from apple but won't rip from dvd.
It's always nice to have a few more tools!
P.S just a quick thankyou from me to everyone here and over at 3ivX for valuable info over the years(!)
We're now into Sonic Solutions DVD Creator at work and it helps having another viewpoint occasionally.
Anyone have any info on Trai Forrester's stuff? It looks very excitiing for DVD authors who want DVD SP coolness and access to all of the DVD spec.
