  1. OK..... I know you've probably heard this so much you want to barff just looking at the subject, but I'm completly lost.

Every Xvid file I try to playback on my machine has an audio sync problem, I don't get it. Every other format plays with no problems at all, can anyone tell me what is causing this?

I can get by with DIVX, but everyone seems to be using XVID and unless I can sort this out my choices are going to be extremely limited.

Again... sorry to repeat a subject I know you must have heard before

  2. Your computer is probably too slow. XVID requires ALOT of the machine, mainly the CPU. My PIII-1Ghz LapTop won't play all the XviD's, but my P4-2,4 GHz will.

You can always convert the XviD to SVCD/VCD or DVD... that's what I do

  3. Turn off Post-Prossesing in XviD, that is what absorbs all the power. XviD and DivX are about tied in terms of quality. The newest DivX (5.1) has great quality, reasonably better, but is sooooo much slower than XviD. Then XviD is gonna be better then DivX for a while, then DivX better than XviD. It goes back and forth. Just know that DivX is going to be more hardware compatible, because they are already so well established.
