Hey all !
Whats up ?
I'm trying to copy Brotherhood of the Wolf R2 and i discovered something strange.
The actual movie is splitted in two different parts VTS_07_xx.vob and VTS_08xx.vob in both layers.
I ripped the whole content (including menus and extras) with DVDDecrypter on my Hard Disk.
I then used DVD Fab to copy only the main movie on a DVD-R.
In a strange way DVD Fab picked up only the one part (VTS_07_xx.vob) and left the other (VTS_08_xx.vob) behind.
So i ended up having only half the movie to copy to the DVD-R.
Is there a way to combine this two parts into one with a related VIDEO_TS.IFO/VOB and VTS_xx_xx.IFO?
I believe another way is to copy whole DVD into 2 DVD-R by using again DVD Fab or IFO Edit. Haven't tried yet but i will really appreciate if you help me make only one DVD-R containing the main movie.
DVD2ONE and other Transcoders are out of the question due to quality loses.
Thanking you all in advance.

Just my opinion here...but:
If you are just wanting the movie then you should rip just the movie.
The movie only method is actually pretty simple but you'll need some progs that you can download from this site and www.doom9.net
Here's how I do it.
Rip using Decrypter - if I only want the main movie then I only rip the main movie.
Once ripped go to the folder that I ripped the DVD to and delete the IFO and BUP files.
Now it has been some time since I did just the movie but if memory serves me correctly. You need to rename your VOB files to VTS_01_01.VOB, VTS_01_02.VOB and so on BEFORE you do the IFOedit step. You will want it to be VTS_01_xx.vob not VTS_07_xx.vob, you will need to change that. Now I can't remember if you start numbering the VTS_01_00.vob or VTS_01_01.vob but that shouldn't be too hard to figure out. I think it is VTS_01_01.vob.
Next open IFOedit, get VTS sectors and region free it, then create new IFO's. (you can also strip out things like extra audio, subtitles, etc, things you don't want)
Next open WinDVD or PowerDVD and play DVD from the VIDEO_TS folder and check it to make sure all is well. If all is well...
Then copy or move the VIDEO_TS folder to the root directory of the drive...example - C:\VIDEO_TS
Then open IMGtools and create the image file of the VIDEO_TS folder.
You can check this with Daemon Tools but it should be ok if the DVD from the folder was OK.
Then burn with decrypter.
Also a little bonus - ease your work a little, type of thing, you can go to your windows folder options and the tab that says "file types" or something like that, you can set WinDVD or PowerDVD to be the default program for viewing the "VOB" file extention, by doing that you can just double click the VOB file in the folder and it will pop open WinDVD and play the file just like Windows Media player would an AVI or MPEG.
The reason for me to mention this is because if you want to get rid of things like the FBI warning or the Green screen telling you the film is rated R, the studio intro or ending credits, you can just go through the vob files double clicking them and watch them and see if you want to keep them or not. If you do not want to keep them then just delete that VOB file from the VIDEO_TS folder before you rename the vob files VTS_01_01.vob, VTS_01_02.vob, VTS_01_03.vob, etc. Once renamed then go to the IFOedit step and your movie will just be the movie. Incidently this is a great little step for getting rid of some extra video when your movie is a little too big and you don't want to compress it. -
Hey there northcat_8 !!
Thank you very much man!
Really appreciated.
I will try this thing out tonight and i'll let you know at tomorrow.
Cheers ! -
Hope it helps, I made a syntax error in there though. You should rename the vob files.
VTS_01_1.vob
VTS_01_2.vob
and so on
the VTS_01_0 file will be the IFO, so start naming your VOB files "VTS_01_1.VOB" capitalization is important.
Sorry bout that, I was at work when I posted that response. -
I've tried it and it worked !!
Now the whole movie is playing normally.
The only problem is that the subtitles (greek because of Region 2 original DVD) are green and almost unreadabel.
Have you ever come through this problem?
Cheers ! -
My first DVD - movie only was like that and they were green and blury. Since then I just remove subtitles too, while in IFOedit.
You should be able to turn off the subtitles just like usual...?
There is a tutorial around here somewhere that tells you how to fix the subtitles so they look normal but I never keep subtitles anyway so I've never used it.
Happy to help. -
You are the man.
Thank you for everything.
Really helped me.
Hope to be as useful as you were.
Cheers.
