The DVD drive is being recognized fine.
The problem is that when I play a DVD there are artifacts running across the screen. It's pretty bad. In addition, the software installation cd that came with the drive which contains PowerDVD, myDVD, etc... will not install. It crashes giving a Windows error that Macromedia splash.exe encountered a problem and needs to shut down, etc...
I'm running Windows XP Professional.
I installed the latest firmware for the DVD, and I have the latest video driver.
I also tried ForceASPI 1.7 and rebooting but unfortunately I'm having the same problems. Running the ASPI Check utility showed that the ASPI is installed properly.
Does anyone know if there is some kind of patch, XP or otherwise that could fix this or do I just have a bad DVD drive?
