  1. I'm getting my first batch of DVD-R tomorrow. So far I've only done test burns with Nero using DVD+RW and they work fine in my standalone. Although Nero seems to work fine for my player I want to make sure that the DVDs I create work with as many players as possible. Even though a lot of people seem satisfied with Nero, it also seems to get a fair number of complaints.

I've read that some programs automatically burn using UDF 1.02. Could it be that those people that have problems with Nero are burning using UDF 1.05? I am familiar with Nero and would like to continue using, but I'm concerned about why some people have problems with it.

  2. Only problem I have with nero is my Powerdvd program won't play any of the dvd's burned with it. At first I thought nero wasn't burning anything, but then I put them in another dvd player. Windows media player will play them so will my stand alone players. the error I get with power dvd says: "Unable to read disc , disc my be damaged try cleaning disc."

  4. Hi,

from my tests the UDF structs of nero leave a lot to be desired without getting technical and I do not find it suprising that some players reject them.

the best software I have found for compatibility of playback for dvd-video is Stomp Record Now MAX or DX

    cheers

Pretty much, the UDF settings are not perfect, if you burn UDF/ISO it makes up for it somewhat with some players appearently (from our testing) but still gives problems on some units. Recordnow Max is the best bet for burning.
