  1. I use Maestro to author. I was wondering if there is a way to have a menu consisting of 4 separate motion clips designating chapters. I know how to do just one big motion menu. But I want motion chapter indicators on a menu. Is this possible?

  2. ??? What are you actually trying to do? If you want a motion menu with several selectable buttons/clips, yes you can do that (eg. matrix). If you mean can you display four seperate MPGs on the screen at once, then no.

Remember that motion menus are nothing more than regular mpeg2 files with a subpicture to define the buttons. There are a lot of ways to make 'chapter motion menus': Chapitre, TSCV, AVISynth, Premeire, etc.

  3. Sorry for the vague description. I didn't know how to word it, but I think you kinda got it. I want a black bitmap. On it I wish to have a small
2 inch x 2 inch running video clip labeled chapter one. Next to that, have chapter 2-4 and so on, so there is several running clips to demonstrate the chapters. I don't much for different software applications so I figured I would ask what to use.

  4. The best app for this job is Adobe After Effects, I've also heard good things about Vegas Video but have not tried it personally for this task.

  6. Alas, Maestro does not create assets for you. You must use something else.

Personally, I use the same general process out lined in that guide. Avisynth/Vdub gives you the most control.

However, DVD-Lab 1.3 looks like it will do thumbnail menus for you. You could use it to make the menu, the rip the mpg back out, and plop it into Maestro.

I reformat my hard drive every month so I can re-install the DVD-Lab demo.
