  1. I want to burn a downloaded avi. file - I'm encoding via TMPEG Enc but the finished file has no audio, only video. Can anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong??? (I've tried clicking on the 'System - Video and Audio stream' option in TMPG but it didn't work...)

    Cheers

  2. When you load your avi in tmpgenc does it show anything in the audio input box?
If not then you probably dont have the audio codec required or maybe more unlikely that the clip has no audio.
Check audio codec used by loading the avi in gspot.

  3. This has occasionally happened to me. Usually it occurs because the intervleaved audio in the AVI uses a format not recognized by TMPGEnc.
SOLUTION: OPen up TMPGEnc, kill the wizard, select the AVI file using BROWSE, then go to FILE -> SAVE AS -> WAV FILE and choose a filename. (You can do nealry the same thing from VirtualDub if you prefer to use that tool.)
Now use BROWSE to replace the [filename].AVI as the audio source with [filename].WAV you just created. Encode as usual. You should get auiod with your video now.
This occurs in particular when I save as huffyuv AVI format, which I often do becuase I process videos with VirtualDub fairly often. Something about the audio itnerleaving in Rudiak-Gold's huffyuv AVI format makes TMPGEnc discard the audio, so I use this workaround, and have had no problems creating encoded MPEG-2s with audio from otherwise recalcitrant AVI files.

  4. You could try ripping audio to wave if it has audio when played in mediaplayer although I would think it highly unlikely anyone is downloading files encoded with huffyuv because of the sheer size.
