Hello...I've got a Centrum C-100 Dvd Player.
I wonder if there's anyway to update it ,so it would be possible to play raw
mpeg,avi,etc..Files. Instead of having to make a vcd cd, it would be possible to play a ordinary Data cd with videos on...Is that possible to do?
Please tell me!.
Peter

Well, you could of course write your own firmware to make it play mpeg data files, but that seems like a long shot...

I have an Afreey LD2060 (its a sampo clone), you can update the firmware via a CD-R. If you go to www.area450.com and look at the firmware section, there r lots of firmwares for various models and you can even change them to play raw files, i recently changed mine so it would play .VRO DVD-RAM files.
They are mainly for Sampo players and various clones but i believe its possible to re-program your eprom inside your player, I dont know much about it, but its worth going to have a look. -
Ok, thanks a lot for telling me.....
Seems like it's only to keep doing vcd's then. -
One advantage is that you get 100 MB extra if you author an mpg as (S)VCD compared to if you just wrote it as a data file.
As the authoring stage isn't that time consuming, I think I'd go this route even if my Centrum played raw mpeg...
But I'd really like a player with reliable DivX/XviD playback (but on the other hand - I already have! My computer...)
