do i need to update my philips 711 firmware

ive been reading a lot of post concerning philips 711 firmware and i was just wondering if i should get an update for mine (i have v7.00 000203 P31 3.25.2)

my dvd player seems to work really well, the only problems i seem to have are playing vcds -- i get rolling black and white pictures

I also wanted to know the differences between versions 7.12 and 7.22

I have upgraded, but have found no obvious difference. The most likely cause of rolling black and white is playing an ntsc SVCD to a PAL TV, or Vice Versa. Make sure your tv and dvd player can play the format of the disk, and if so, make sure you are connected through a video connection (scart or phono) not UHF

or only you can setting between PAL OR NTSC ???

If you change de firmware version change something in relation that ???
