I just got a Philips 3560 and I looked around online and it appears that there's no FW updates for this model...even at Philips site. They don't offer a Firmware at all. Is there alternatives for this model?
The unit itself seems to work just fine...no issues. I went into the menu options and noticed a function called "My Wallpaper". Your suppose to be able to set your dvd players background to any picture you want but unfortunately for me the 2 of the 3 options are "greyed out" (i.e...I can't set a custom wallpaper). I haven't found a single issue online on why this feature doesn't work so I thought maybe a firmware upgrade might work.

Here's the site's info about this model:

If the wallpaper is not working, call Philips customer support . -
thats the first place i went to so i could use the region hack...the wallpaper i have finally gotten to work after 3 days of trying...magically the options weren't greyed out...works ok now but when it chose the specific pic i chose it really degraded the jpeg to a point where it was really pixelated so I just went back to the default.
i know the 5990 or 5992 had a custom firmware but i wasn't sure this 3560 model had the same -
If you care about region free play, I very strongly suggest NOT apply ANY firmware updates. If you ignore that good advice and doing so breaks region free playback, you were warned. There is no way I'd risk it to be able to maybe change the wallpaper.
The days of custom firmware are long long gone. You can probably count on one hand the number of still in production players that have such. -
it looks like there's no custom FW for this model anywhere so I'm guessing that indeed...these custom FW's are not around anymore. As it sits, the unit itself is fine. Region free and back to it's original state playing just fine.
