  1. I am looking to start a business, in which customers In my town bring me their tapes (any format) and then I burn it to a DVD and give back for a charge of course. I am only 15 years old and was wondering if this list of stuff is suffecient.

A03-7034 ADS Pyro AV-Link Video Capture Device

A91-7044 Adaptec 3-Port Firewire PCI Card Controller

    THD-80AA2 P Seagate 80GB / 7200 / 2MB / 8.5 / ATA-100 EIDE Hard Drive

    T14-2100 P TDK Indi Multi-Format Recorder 4x2x12 DVD-RW, 4x2.4x12 DVD+RW, 16x10x40 CD-RW with Easy CD Creator Software

A03-7040 ADS DVD Labeling Kit (Includes 10 Cases)

    K51-1022 P Khypermedia - 10-pack 2X DVD-R in Dual Jewel Case

I want the hardrive because I do not want customers video on my hardrive. The firewire card because I don't have one right now.

I have done plenty hours of homework on the other things. But just want to hear some other opinions.
Like if the writer is good? and the capture device? Since I have to put about a $1000 of my own money into it.

    Thank You

    Just my o.o2

you'll have to get the sources too then, like: VHS VCR, Hi8, Digital8, MiniDV may be even a Beta VCR and whatever else if customers bring you the tapes only.

  3. Forget EZ CD Creator software unless you want to make a lot of coasters. Also a DVD recorder with a built in TBC (time base corrector) like the Panasonic E50 will do a better job of capturing than a capture card plus do it in one forth the time IMO.

  4. I hope that your planning on backing up home videos as I believe that backing up someone elses copywrited material (for a fee or not) is not covered under fair use

  5. yes i am only going to be doing peoples home videos, wedding tapes, things of that nature.
OH I never thought about that i would need all the diff format players. I already have a vhs VCR, hmm I could try and convince my dad to buy a Sony DCR-TRV530 so I could do the Hi 8, Mini-DV and, Digital8 tapes. And for BETA try and find a cheap player from some pawn shop or something, or just not support it. Since its been like 20 years since they have stopped making it.

Also is Hi8 the same as 8mm?
