  1. Changing a region 3 DVD (ntsc) to region free (ntsc)?
I know you can change your regions to region free with DVD Decrypter.
I just need to know if you can do that with your computer's dvd drive even though it's set to region one? Thanks for the Info!

You could flash the drive to make it region free.

  3. There's a piece of software you can also try out called "DVD Region Free" that can do what you're asking and works quite well. There is a trial version available on their web site.

  4. I guess what I ment was in order to rip the dvd does my drive have to be the same region as the dvd I'm ripping? Thanks!

  5. No, you can rip any region. Region codes only affect play back (not a flame but you could have just tried it out ) Once ripped you can make the VIDEO_TS.IFO file region free with several programs (I use IFOEdit) then backup to DVDR (or edit as necessary).

Rip the movie with DVD Decrypter.

If you do your ripping in FILE mode or ISO mode then it will be region free. When ripping the region code crap and all copy protection crap will be removed.

If the DVD is a single layer disc simply rip in ISO READ mode then BURN that IMAGE file to a DVD-R using ISO WRITE mode.

If the movie is dual layer then best to rip in FILE mode and then use something like DVD2ONE or DVDShrink etc. to make it the size you need for a DVD-R

I have the HK region 3 DVD discs of GMK and GODZILLA VS MEGAGURIUS and both are single layer discs which makes life very easy ... like I said before just rip and burn using ISO mode in DVD Decrypter.
No need with single layer discs to use anything else.
The DVD-R copies will be region free

Now if only the new MechaGodzilla would come out on HK DVD already!

    GODZILLA X MECHGODZILLA UPDATE

    Life is SWEET
Haven't thought about this movie in a while so I just came back from HK FLIX and guess what?

The HK region 3 NTSC DVD of this title is NOW available !!!

Japanese Language in 5.1 DD and 5.1 DTS with English subtitles. This is also Widescreen but if it is like the other HK Godzilla DVD discs then it is only 4:3 Widescreen (not 16x9 enhanced) but considering the last 3 Godzilla films have been unreleased in the USA I am not going to complain!

Best of all ... $14.95 plus shipping

Is this so you can play in your standalone? If so you might want to check out the DVDhacks and see if you there is a region hack
