  1. I'm currently using a regular 4:3 TV to watch my svcds. I plan on getting a WS tv, and I read that if the movie isn't anamorphic, it will give me black bars on the top and bottm and also gray bars on the left and rights. I'm mostly going to be watching SVCD's and Xvid's on the 16:9 tv, and none of them are anamorphic. What do you guys with widescreen TV's do in a situation like this?

I either use the zoom feature on my TV to make the image widescreen, or I crop off the black bars, and encode as 4:3 when I encode to (S)VCD MPEG, and then have my TV stretch the image, making it widescreen. Of course, if you ever plan on watching that (S)VCD on a 4:3 TV it won't look right, but it looks good on a 16x9 TV.
