  1. Hi!
I have a philips dvd+r/rw standalone recorder and would like extract the titles from some of our discs unto harddrive to be able to create new dvd's in other format dvd-r.

    My questions are:
    1. Is there a good program to extract titles from a dvd?
I have tried CloneDVD but all I got was error message...
    2. If there isnīt any good software - what software to use for ripping titles i.e. parts of the disk?

You can use Smartripper or dvddecrypter to rip different titles.

  4. Try DVD Shrink. You can rip titles with it and preview them before you do so.

DVD Shrink will more than likely not work and will throw and error message similar to the CloneDVD one.
Both programs have problems with "home made" DVDs recorded with the Philips dvd+r/rw standalone has it creates a DVD-Ram structure (or something along these lines).

Yes, dvd-shrink did not like our dvd either so is there any computer software that you can use with "home made" DVDs recorded with the Philips dvd+r/rw standalone?

  7. miking, have you tried ripping with DVD Decrypter as suggested earlier?

Here is a user-friendly guide you might want to look at:

Once ripped you should hopefully be able to re-author/compress with DVD Shrink.

If you're talking about discs that your recorder captured, then they are not encrypted, so you can just copy them from a DVD-ROM to your hard drive. Once there, you can make as many copies as you want (within copyright/fair use laws).

And yes they are not encrypted but it really doesnīt help because even though I have the files on my HD I cannot find any program to open up the files. DVdShrink exits directly after trying to load the disk or in the beta version gives an errormessage which makes impossible to upload the file and choose titles from it. Any other good software tips? Authoring-software?
