    Here's my problem:
I downloaded a Divx movie; wanted to make a dvd. So i scanned the movie for errors.....none. Then i made a seperate 48000Hz audio-channel with Virtualdub. With Tmpgenc (v. 2520 ) I encoded to a ntsc DVD movie with Cbr MPEG 1 Layer 2 audio MP2 , which I authored with Tmpgenc Dvd Author, burned it with CloneDVD. And........ when I put it in my standalone Cyberhome ADL528 ( it plays really everything ) , it starts with the menu..... plays the movie for some minutes.....and stops. Tried it many times, also from chapters.... but it stops everytime. I had the same with a Xvid I encoded in this way ( same steps, but burned it with Tmpgenc DVD Author ), but that one stopped after some seconds.....

I like to know what I'm doing wrong here....... anyone?

Leave the Dutch guy alone! Oh, and the wooden shoes thing is uncalled for!

Just because he downloaded a DIVX does NOT mean that it is warez. I have dowloaded non copywrited DIVX movies many times, so blow it out your Axx.

When you ASSume you become an *******.

RabidDog, you have been a HUGE help to this guy. NOT!

Dutch Coder - What you are trying to do, has to be the one of the most hit and miss things you can do here.

Try this: Encode to mpeg2, 2 pass VBR, instead of CBR. Higher quality and lower bit rate. Then use Record Now Max or Nero to burn.

    Let us know what happens.

Ok you guys. I can smell the flames through my screen.

I've done a few conversions from Divx to DVD with good final results and managed to get them to play back on my several machines. I sometimes has to run the Divx file through Virtual Dub because TMPGenc would not display the audio track. I used 48000Hz audio setting and used the DIVX encoder to basically recreate the movie as a second duplicate file. Now please don't laugh but it did create a perfect copy with audio that would be recognized my TMPGenc. I then make an MPG2 file adjusting Bit rate to give me a file just over 4Gigs in TMPGenc and run it thorugh TMPGenc DVD Author. I then burn to disk with NERO using DVD/Movie setting, only copying the files themselves to the VIDEO_TS Nero creates. Believe me, I am not even close to the expertize some of you guys possess in this forum but,,,, they have all worked perfectly well with all chaptering and menus operating as they were intended. The other side of the coin would be to just buy the DVD and rip it with any of the DVD Copying Programs discussed in this forum. I do understand what this guy is trying to do and to me it doesn't really matter where he obtained the file. You are learning a great deal just by runiing through the various processes. I know this is an anti WAREZ site but we need to look further into what he is trying to achieve.

Thx for the "normal " replies...... this is why I posted my question here; to get some answers; not to be called lazy! I'm going to try the reckoned methods..... and let ya guys know what happened. One more question: Any other encoder can be used to do this besides Tmpgenc??? Canopus & Ligos?

btw. wooden shoes... .... and I'm living in a windmill....right? ..... he he he he.... Greeting & tullips ( and cheese....don't forget the cheese! ) from Amsterdam.

i have a added question, (im tryin to go from divx to dvd) okay i joined 2 divx files with nandub i couldn't find vdub mp3 freeze. the new file played perfect and sound and everything is in sync. so now when i try to strip the audio with vdub it will encode to just about the end and then i get a error sayin something like cylic redundancy errror something ..what does that mean? the new file 2hours 19mins. 9secs. is it possible that the files didn't match up or what can i do from here?

the vdub error says failure streaming avi file data error (cyclic redunacy check)

Thanks for the replies, I'm kindda late, been a bit busy with my work. I worked it out now...... Encoded first with Tmpgenc ( two pass VBR ) - authored with Tmpgenc DVDAuthor - burned with Nero...... good result; it played on my standalone! At second; I encoded the same movie with Canopus Procoder ( also two pass VBR ) at "master"selection" ...... it was very slow at that setting ( about 9.5 hours ) - authored with Tmpgenc DVDAuthor - burned with Nero. The result from this method was really awesome! It takes a lot of time..... but it's well worth it. Only tricky thing with Canopus was the bitrate calculation.
