I'm sure this has been asked before but I can not seem to get the right search request for my question.
1) How can you tell what field order that is needed to encode?
I did meet joe black in svcd and it played fine on my computer but jerky on my pioneer dvd. A little search and I found try changing field order. Well I certaintly don't want to waste 6 hours encoding only to have to do it again. So how can one tell before encoding?
2) Want to try lsx-mpeg encoder. Can get virtualdub to framserve (resized to 480x480) into lsx-mpeg but how can I keep the letter box format?
Forgive me if answers are in a guide somewhere. I read them and try to figure it on before asking.
Thanks

what i will always do before spending the many hours on encoding is in tmpgenc do a source range of about 30 seconds to a minute of an action scene. then i know if my vcd will look good and if the field order is correct.
