  1. had you ever have a problem burnning media with nec 1300 drive on generic media such as lead data, princo or ritek at 4x? My brother has a nec drive and he found out that nec 1300 drive would not accept any media unless is branded known media such as tdk or so on media. anyway, if you have some experience on this drive, please let me know your comment on it of how to do so. My brother is thinking about return his drive back to vendor.

I've upgraded my nec1300a oem to herrie's 1.6 and it still will not verify a burnt ritek 4x DVD-R. I still haven't bought any different media because i paid £250 for 200, i literally have to get it to work with them. has anyone got any ideas, they seem to run alright when played back in PS2s and Standalones but whenever I try and actually copy the data back onto the PC I get CRC errors straight away

You may want to check in windows device manager and make sure the NEC drive has DMA enabled. If not then maybe try un-installing the drive in device manager then re-boot allowing windows to re-install the drive and hopefully enable DMA.

If you want to copy from a DVDR I would suggest using SmartRipper to do that, not windows exployer.

  8. I installed the hacked firmware and it has worked perfectly. highly recommended. Actually the drive was almost useless before I flashed the firmware with the media hacked version.
