  1. A while back, when i was a complete newbie, i backed up a movie by just stripping the main movies files using SmartRipper. This created a ONE large vob file, for which i created the ifos etc. Tested on PC works fine. I noticed that this doesnt work on the settop player, as its just one big vob file for the whole movie. Ive tried creating new ifos which simply just enable it to play in my PC. My original DVD is now in a very bad state so its impossible for me to rip it again, and extract all vobs individually.

How can i extract this one large vob or, create ifo's which will enable it to play on my player. (all my usual backups work fine, this is just a very old one)

  2. Process the file with an Authoring program and it should make it back into 1 gig files.

open the vob file with IfoEdit (you will need to select all files in the open dialog window to see your vob file) select vob extras tab (at the top of ifoedit main window) tick create new ifos and set the file size (right hand side) to 1 gb set the destination directory and click ok wait until completed .. you will now have several vob files + the required ifo/bup files(select yes if asked to save to bup) close ifoedit and then reopen ifoedit (it is important that you do this) open the VIDEO_TS.ifo file that you created and click get vts sectors (bottom of main window) close ifoedit .... burn your dvd ...... it will play in your standalone as well as your computer

  5. Busipaln,
When you re-author, the authoring tool will automatically chop the huge VOB file into 1GB or smaller pieces.
