  1. Hi

I'm new at burning DVD's. Have copied a few single layer DVD's (DVD5) just to be sure how it works.

And now I'm trying to make a copy of a concert DVD. The DVD is a dual layer (DVD9). The entired DVD contains extra material such as an interview, photo gallery and a video-clip, but I only want the concert (running for approx. 100 mins) on the DVD-R (jupp, minus, not +).

I've followed the user guides on this site, but I'm stucked.
    I have:

-Decoded the DVD using DVD Decrypter
Here I get 1.ifo file, and 6 .vob files. These files is altogether 5.4 GB large, so I know they're too big for a DVD-R (I'm using Verbatim discs saying 4.7 GB data and 120 mins video).

While loading these files into DVD Shrink 2.3 I can't compress them to fit the 4.3 GB limit (that's what I understood from this forum). What the f*** am I doing wrong?

What will happen to the menus when ommit the extras? (just curious)

I'm using Nero 5.5 to copy DVD's (DVD5 goes fine), but when it comes to dragging out just the main movie (the concert) I get lost even using the "DVD 2 DVDR For Dummies" guide. Am I really that stupid? LOL

In other words: "How do I take selected part(s) from a DVD onto a DVD-R?"

    All help are praised.

PS: For those who wants to know, I'm trying to get the Dio "Evil Or Devine" and Ozzy Osbourne "Live At Budokan" DVD's to fit on one DVD-R without the extras.

you want "re-author" mode..which allows you to just keep the main movie only...and getting rid of extras AND menus...DVDshrink currently has no way of keeping the menus without also keeping the extras

These guides are as user friendly as it gets. Kind of slow to sit throught but they cover everything from DVD Rip (I suspect you didn't rip the full DVD btw), running DVDShrink, and burning.

You can burn with any number of programs. I use IMGTools & DVD Decrytper as they are both freeware.
