  1. I usually have no prob opening the avi with it but for theese ones it's giving me that prob anyone know a way around that?

    Try going into the Environment menu and changing the VFAPI settings. Try making the DirectShow Filters at a higher priority and perhaps other related filters.

  3. Was your .avi originally from DV? DV that is captured and saved as .avi are different than normal .avi files. TMPGEnc can't recognize this type of .avi file. I got that exact same error message.

    I used Premiere to capture the DV. So I had to get the AVIsynth plug-in for Premiere and then frameserve to TMPGEnc. Instructions for how to do this (with links to the plug-in) are in the How To section of this site.
