  1. I have a downloaded Xvid.Avi file that is a little over 700mb in size. I am trying to convert it to SVCD format using TEMPGenc. I have spilt the file using Vdub and each file is around 360mb or so. When I load the file in TEMPGenc using the project wizard it tells me that the out put file is going to be three times the size of then input file of around 360mb. Does this sound correct???????? If so then I know I can't get that much onto one 80min cd-r.

Then am I going to have to put this file on 3 or maybe 4 cds???? I would like to get it onto 2 if possible.

Any solution would greatly be appreciated.

    Thanks!

yes you can get it on 2 cds just lower the bitrate of the video. cause i think its automatically set to 2500. use a bitrate calculator, and figure out how much bitrate you will be able to use. look tell me the lenght of the movie and ill tell you what bitrate to use. i think its better if you tell me the lenght of only the first part so you can do that first then the second part.

  3. THe length of the file before I split it was 107mins. long and I split it by frames not by the length of the file.

Sorry I do not have access to the exact time of the first part I split at the moment but as soon as I do I will post the correct time for each part, until then all I can provide is the time before splitting.

    THe total frames is 174,908.

If more info is needed just let me know and I will post it as soon as I have it available.

    Thanks!

ok lets say you split it in half perfectly your file should be about 54 minutes well you can get a bitrate calculator here https://www.videohelp.com/calc.htm
and well let me calculate the bitrate i suggest you use 192 kbs for audio and well the calculated bitrate for video was 1813. however since svcd is a bigger reselution than vcd or cvd, i suggest you do a two pass vbr, or do CVD. if you want i can prepare an NTSC template for you or a PAL template so you can make a CVD.

this takes longer, because you have to split it it takes about 10 minutes and then it has to re write svcd headers, and it has to check for svcd headers, or something which ends up taking about 20 or 30 minutes just to split the file, just split it before or use the souce selection in TMPGEnc.

  10. I done some reading about CVD. Wasn't to much up on the info on that format. If you don't mind making a NTSC template in that would be great and greatly appreciated. For now I will try encoding with the setting you posted.

Thanks again for all everyones posts and help.
