DVD SHRINK Questions?

Hi, I was using the DVD to DVDR quide from this forum and I dont understand one thing?

Before I hit Back Up DVD and start conversion, I have to make folder named VIDEO_TS, and to ripp all DVD in it, is thos corect?

Now, is this is corect, this is second question:

In that folder, I couldnt find the beginning of main movie, there was just couple of vobs from middle, and other parts of moovie, but there is no begining of movie. I didnt burn this folder to DVD so I checked only from VIDEO_TS folder.


And final questions, because I am preparing to burn my first DVD with Nero:

Does my ripped DVD got to have AUDIO_TS folder or just VIDEO

me again, I just finished and I tryed my DVD on my PIONEED and It doesnt want to play, just read Title 1, Chapter 1 4 sec and it freeze there, no Chapter change is possible, just there is no begining of movie-
where is a mistake

I'm not sure what you are doing. The best guide that I've seen is on doom9.org, a real beginner guide is at dvdshrink.info.

Regarding making a folder, the name does not matter. DVDshrink will make subfolders with the appropriate names ie Video_ts and the audio folder which is empty.

BTY, if you are first getting started, your new DVDR may not play on your player.

Just so we can help you out a little more...

What burner did you get? What Player(Pioneer I think you said)? What DVD-R Media are you using? What version of Nero? What Speed are you burning at?

Are you looking to make a full backup of you're DVD... or just the actual movie?

first things first:

1) does your player support DVD media...check here: https://www.videohelp.com/dvdplayers

look for DVD+R and DVD-R compatibility

this is a very, very good guide...i suggest you read this inside out.

3) once you have created your DVD VIDEO files, i would suggest you to burn with nero express. it has a much simpler GUI than regular Nero and less settings to deal with...all you need to do is to "add" the video files into nero express, and it'll do everything for you... including adding a "AUDIO_TS" folder for you...

Ok, I wil try to answer on all questions.

DVD burner is Pioneer DVR-105 , I am making DVD from my VHS tapes normaly, but this is first time that I am trying to rip DVD9 to DVD 5.

DVD media I am using are: Verbatim and Princo. and both kids forks perfect on my XWAVE 7200 standalone DVD player.

Now, last night I ripped Jurassic Park 3 from DVD which was 8 GB to my HDD using DVD Shrink quide from this forum. I am a begginer to this.
I got VIDEO_TS folder with 3.2GB of material, many VOBS and how knows what else.

I started Nero 5.5.10. choose DVD Movie, drag and drop that VIDEO_TS folder in the Nero's window and burn that DVD on 1x

When I tryed to play it on my PIONEER Burner, using Power DVD 2.5, It just shows me(Power DVD display) Chapter 1, Title 1, 4sec and freeze, No change chapter is posible, jus black screen, no sound, nothing. I tryed to paly on my XWAVE, same situation.

So thats, all, maybe you have some better guide ....

You need to burn the VIDEO_TS folder as a "data" disc. I don't use Nero so I can't tell you if burning it as a "DVD movie" in Nero is the same as a data file like in RecordNow Max (which is what I use).

OK I will try another quides,

and YES I am sure my DVD can play DVD-R because I am burning VHS to DVD always and watching DVD-R movies on it.
