  1. Despite some of the opinions on these forums I decided to give a pack of Memorex DVD media a try (for 4x the price was too good to pass on).

Imagine my surprise when dvdinfo revealed these discs to be the exact same ricohjpnr01 media as my previously purchased verbatim, tdk, and fuji dvds.

Couple this with the fact that I burn exclusively with Nero and have never ever created even ONE coaster, and I am more and more convinced that some of you are just hopeless wankers that couldnt work a toaster (the kind you use for bread).

So for those who have reluctance to use either product based only on what they have read on these forums...if you have even a slight clue, you have nothing to worry about.

  2. i posted this a month ago and if you look at the sticky on top of this thread "FAQ's and biggest misconceptions" you'll see exactly why you can't just assume things. Memorex DVD-R media is still primarily manufactured by CMC, but the 4x +R media is produced by Ricoh.

As far as I know...the only major media manufacturer to solely produce their own media is Maxell. And they not only produce their own meida...they produce alot of TDK's media as well. Some of the highest quality out there.

  3. I started out using the Memorex 2.4X disks and never had a coaster since I got the correct software setup, (had problems with earlier version of Nero DVD Video Setting). I've never had problems with the Sony 2.4X either dispite all the complaints I've heard on them. and it all plays just fine even on the oldest DVD players I've tried it on.

  4. Today's the last day, but I found that BestBuy has them on sale (this week?) for $34.99 for a 25 pack 4X +R and the ones I bought do show the same ID Code as the TDK +R 4X I was using til I ran out last night... I beleieve this price is only good til closing of the store tonight.

For me in NJ, USA that workes out to be $148.36 for 4 x 25 (100) pc, not as good as the TDK 100 for $129 was but still decent.

Just to say if you see this message, they had four pieces left at bridgewater store when I was there.

    Cheers
    Roger
