  1. Why cant I get the subtitles to work when i compress from my original dvd with dvd shrink??? Have even tried dvd decrypter but when it comes to compress a movie the subtitles wont work

  2. all I can say is that they should. when you use dvdshrink, I am assuming your are using compression and movie only. In the subtitle area, you are leaving the check marks in place for whatever subtitles (called subpictures on dvdshrink) you wanted. Then it should work.

When you are saying that subtitles dont work, how are you verifying that subtitles dont work? Try this, on your dvd player remote, press the subtitle button and you should have the option for one or more subtitles.

The only other thing that I could even begin to suggest is that THAT particular movie just doesnt want to work. What subtitles are available on the movie?

  3. I have tried everything. Uncompressed movies no problem but compressed movies no subtitles, very strange. I'm using the re-author to take backup of my original dvd's since i'm only interessted in the main movie.

  7. @stein73,

  8. @poopyhead
First of all, thanx for taking your time to trying to help me
Do u mean like a full copy inc everything on the dvd? anyway have tried it, main move & menus with 15%reduction, and extras with still pictures (no audio) but still no fu..... subtitle in LB format. Have even tried to burn iso with dvd decrypter but still the same problem. But if I split the movie into 2 discs uncompressed subtitles work 100%.
Mabye the problem is my dvd player?

  9. It's definitely not your DVD player. I have the exact same problem, and I've tried five different brand players. It's DVD Shrink itself that is somehow messing up the subtitles. Something in the code, obviously, because the new Nero 6 (which has DVD Shrink code) also wrecks the subtitles when compressing the movie.

Is there any other free software that will compress a movie and is easy to use, like DVD Shrink?
