I'm looking for an external AC3/DTS decoder without amplifier and speakers in addition to my new DVD player (only with opt. DD output).
Does such a device really exist (not the Jazz widget)?
Should be priced < 200 $ (or Euro).

Klipsch makes the Promedia DD-5.1 which is just a decoder with 5.1 line-outs that you have to connect to an amp. IIRC, there are also a couple of others in that price range ($170USD) but I forget who makes them. I think it does DD and DTS 5.1, but not the 7.1 version if that matters.

Yes, this is the sort of device, I was looking for.

Problem is, they sell it in EU for 350 Euro, more than twice the price they ask for in US
