Alright I've got a DivX file and when I go to extract the audio before converting it to MPEG in TMPGEnc, it says the audio source is VBR, and the audio needs to be decompressed, and recompressed to CBR. What software can be used for this? I'd prefer it to be Freeware if possible, so if anyone can let me know it would be greatly appreciated. I checked Guides and Tools but couldn't find anything matching what I needed.

I'm assuming VirtualDub told you that the audio was VBR...

So why don't you just use VirtualDub?

Select "Audio->full processing" then "save WAV"

Really? Wow, then you must be the first person to ever try and turn a Divx into a VCD. Congratulations!

save it as WAV from Vdub, and ignore the recompress as CBR bit - that's only for making a new Divx file from that sound stream (and for that you really should just use VDubMpFreeze anyway)... it's what TMPGEnc will be doing once you feed it the resultant sound file on the 'audio' input line.

Back after a long time away, mainly because I now need to start making up vidcapped DVDRs for work and I haven't a clue where to start any more!

Listen, I checked Guides, nothing on VBR to CBR conversion from what I saw. Most of my conversions don't require this as the audio is already CBR. I know there are a lot of questions similar to this posted, very simple things for some people, but they aren't simple or obvious for everyone. There is a reason this site has help in its title, isn't there? If I need help, I ask. If someone needs help and I can help them I try to. I don't throw in unwanted sarcastic remarks, something which seems to be your forte.

    Yep.

    If you read the guide
    How To
    CONVERT
How to convert to DVD with TMPGEnc
    Problems
If you get audio errors, out of sync problems or bad audio or no audio at all

Then you have the info you need. It's all there, you just need to take the time to look.
