    @ all.. TGIF !!

    @ Cixelsid,

I have the ATI-TV Wonder (pci) and it's a great card too.

No, it doesn't have any hardware MPEG chips/support.

All the encodng is done via software MPEG encoding.. aka, real-time mpeg
    encoders.

Yes, I noticed it said "real-time" mpeg encoding, however that's a little misleading since it's not a function of the hardware, it's the software.

Yes, but that could be an over-sight on their part. But, then again, they
did not mention "hardware" either :P

That card's chipset is old and is pure software encoding.

It's the ATI AIW Radeon series cards that have hardware-assisted MPEG encoding (though still not pure hardware encoding). And even then, the assist is only active when using the ATI MMC and nothing else. Don't get me wrong, nothing bad about it. In fact, it's my card of choice, the ATI AIW Radeon.

  7. When I capture to MPEG2 using the ATI software it saves the file as a .mp2 .. how do I convert that to .mpg in order to put it on SVCD ?

Is it easier to capture to avi and convert it using TMPGenc?

I have the ATI AIW 7500 and the latest ATI capture software.

    hi pilotace,

Just rename the .mp2 to .mpg

But, just to note, .MP2 is audio, and not video in most cases !!

But, these are the quirks of MMC

No mp2 ref to MPEG2 Audio and Video vhelp but now days they so mix up with so min diff extension it hard keep track but it should be .mpg (3 letter) extension some use .mpeg (4 letter) extension.
mpa ref to MPEG Audio just like mpv ref to MPEG Video.

  10. That being said, what would be the easiest way to split the file into "chunks" so I can get them on SVCDs?

And how big should I make each of the files? I know that the 80 min CDs can hold 800 megs, but taking into consideration all the folders that Nero has to put on the disc, I can't use the full 800 megs.. any suggestions?

    Thanks!

... if using an old version, MMC 7.5 or before. At either 7.6 (one I did not test) or 7.7 (one I tested) this was corrected.

  12. I have 7.5 installed because the later versions were giving my computer fits..

  13. It's just the extension. No big deal to change it.

If you are comfortable enough you can hack the registry to change how the file is saved. If not I would simply recommend changing the '2' to a 'g'.

  14. Yeah, I had a BAD experience with a registry file.. I will just rename it each time..

    Thanks Next !
