  1. I am buying a pioneer 6-series dual format dvd burner, and want to know what should I buy to start having fun. I am going to back-up many hollywood dvd movies, make a few home movies, and transfer vhs and cass. tapes to dvd. Heres my list
    1. 20 pack of memorex dvd-r, and dvd+r media, and a few dvd-/+rw discs
    2. DVD-X copy for hollywood dvds
    3. Dvd srink to srink dvds
    4. Anything else?

  2. From the "tools" section of this site download and install SmartRipper or one of the other rippers offered. I would also at least download "ForceASPI" just in case you have an ASPI problem on your computer (if so then you just need to run it one time).

DVDshrink works well and is free so that's a good choice you already have. Some here have had problems with Memorex DVD media, however I have never used it so I can't really comment on that myself. I would stay away from Verbatim media but TDK is top quality IMO.

Finally if you want to make DVD backup simple then spend a few bucks and buy DVDX Xpress. For DVD burning I recommend RecordNow Max.

  5. Thanks for the tips. I already have a AIW 9700 pro, and am realy shooting on which softwear I should get. Otherwise, is there any other softwear I could use that you recomend, that are free, so I can get the hang of being a nOOb. Also, is there a good softwear to transfer cassest tapes to computer, then to a cdr to listen to in a home cd player. Thx

    DartPro 98 or DartPro XP.

Will record audio from source, apply dehiss/decrack filters, and burn final disc. Excellent audio restoration/transfer program. Not very expensive, under $100 last I saw.

Sure, but it sounds bad in most cases. No dehiss filters. Yuck.
