  1. I am currently having trouble playing back backups of my dvd's on an RCA RC5215P. I rip and burn the dvd's with DVDXcopy to 2 dvd's. They all play back fine in my Pioneer A06 1.5 firm. With DvdXCopy I use the nero burning program option (have noticed some dvd-r's have errors when using the DVDXCopy burning engine). The problem is when I go to playback the dvd's in my stand alone RCA. The dvd starts up for about 2 seconds then the RCA just turns off. I have been trying to figure this out using other part of this website and am still not sure what to do. Do I need to do something to the region code of the discs I burn? How do I check the region code of the backup dvd's? Do I need to do something to the RCA player itself? Any help would be appreciated.

BTW I have tried Fuji DVD+RW's, Verbatim DVD-RW's and 3 types of DVD-R's.

  2. It could be your version of Nero, try updating to the latest version, as some earlier versions had issues wih DVD compliancy.

Also try DVD Shrink (freeware) to check that it's not DVDXCOPY that is creating the problem.

If you can get your hands on one, try a Ritek disk as well, as these are more compatible with a wide range of Standalone players.

  3. As far as I know I have the latest version of Nero. I bought a DVD-R sampler from someplace and have tried Ritek, DVDPro, and another one (whose name I forget). I would love to use DVDShrink as I have heard a lot of good things about it but I also want something EASY. The guides I saw had A LOT of crap in them that was manual (as opposed to just pressing, "Burn Now"). I will give it a try though and see how it works.
