Tried the following today:

1. Used OSeX to rip a DVD, one title at a time, to individual vob's. Cut everything down to one soundtrack, no subtitles.
2. Changed extension on each ripped file from vob to mpg
3. Added mpg's to a CaptyDVD project
4. Compiled project and saved as a disk image
5. Mounted disk image
6. Played in apple DVDPlayer

The soundtrack was .ac3 so mpg's play in CaptyDVD 'preview' with no sound, but sound works fine on the finished disk.

As there's no transcoding of the mpegs, this is a reasonably quick way of editing a dvd to the bare essentials.
