  1. I've been converting files to MPEG2 and authoring them to DVD. I'm burning them to DVD-Rs. What I notice is that when I play them back on my TV, the perimeter of the picture is slightly cut off. It's not extremely noticable, but if there is a way to fix the problem I would like to know. I am using TMPGEnc to convert to MPEG, and TMPGEnc DVD Author to author. Are there any settings that prevent this from happening, or is it just something inherent to TV playback?

You could add a mask to your video, or borders.

Yes. Look up "overscanning" in the glossary.

So is this just something you guys live with? Or should I look into fixing it?

I would add a border around it if I had it. It would not show up on the screen, and I would still get to see the entire image.
    Hello.

  6. Ok, thanks guys. In TMPGEnce I used custom aspect ratio, and changed it slightly to create a border. Seems to be working. Hopefully this will get rid of the overscane wihout distorting the image (I used 690X460).
