  1. This is my computer specifications...

    Intel D850MV Motherboard
    P4 2Ghz 512
    1GB RDRam-800
    80gb 7200 rpm

    is it enough for real time MPEG2 capturing ?

    Yes.

    That is it's going to be some 4000-8000 CBR encode then yes. That's doing it all in software, with no hardware assist. PowerVCR does this, as do some of the other time shifters.

  3. neoDVD and freeVCR also can do this. I go back and forth on direct MPEG2 captures. Quaility is slightly lower, but you save fair bit of time

    I'm about to buy the canopus MPEGPRO MVR so do I need to upgrade my system for real time Mpeg2 capturing ?
