  1. i have what i think are pal vcd and i think i need to convert them to ntsc so theyll play on my tv (all i get now is a rolling picture in black and white).

    my question: is this possibel, if so how do i do it. ive looked over the how to convert section but saw nothing related to this

  2. Try changing the setting on your DVD player. You should be able to choose PAL, NTSC or auto.

  3. yeah, ive tried converting my dvd player, but no luck. when i take it from the default, the picture rolls and is black and white (even with no cd in teh drive) and when the cd is placed in the drive, the same problem --- i think it has something todo with my tv

    just an fyi: i had to use an rf converter since my tv only has the "regular" coax connection -- dont know if this is the reason why the tv doesnt seem to support both formats

    I've had to do this, too. I ripped the dvd, per the newbie guide on the left, and just chose the NTSC template in tmp to encode it, and it works fine. You may have to use VCDgear to turn the .dat file back to mpg, then re-encode it with tmp. Possible loss of quality, but it should work.
