I've been trying to convert my VCD .dat files into DivX .avi with VDub but it seems to not work. It converts for about a second then stops and doesnt resume. Anyone got any ideas? Whatever can help is appreciated. Thanks

Do it from within TMPGEnc. Open the .DAT file directly off the CD, the way you normally load video and audio streams for encoding. Then choose File > Save As > AVI, and you should be able to choose your DivX codec and MP3 audio codec. I found though its better to first encode the audio as an uncompressed WAV first to maintain audio sync. I then subsequently compress the audio to MP3 within VirtualDub, using direct stream copy for the video. I once got nearly three hours of video from VCDs onto one CD this way. My 900mb films reduced to approximately 215mb.

In the "Audio" (or something like that)
There's a thing you can press called "Compression" go in there and select yor MP3 codec and the quality, press OK and it's fine!
