Looks like a normal bit-rate calculator, except for the part where you alter the GOP structure. Is this going to make a difference quality-wise? Will it harm DVD-compatability?

they are within the bounds of GOP lenth for DVD and yes - changing the GOP basewd on bit rate can improve your picture ..Originally Posted by mh2360

in other words - go ahead if you know what your doing but accepting the encoder defaults is a good failsafe ....
doing short samples at different settings is certainly good learning ..
