I am trying to rip a Dragonball Z DVD. CloneDVDXp does not work at all. I then tryed Smartripper. That worked only for the one episode. I guess my question is how do you rip all the episodes??? If anyone can help me out I sure would appreciate it a lot.

For the eps that can't be rip, just play it using your PC's dvd player to play that chapter for a second. Then go back to smartripper and it'll rip.

From memory, some of the DBZ episodes have the separate episodes as separate VOBSets.
I strongly recommend that you use DVD Decrypter and simply rip the entire disc. Then you can easily sort it through later.

The problem was in the process of ripping entire DVD to HD. Yes, each episode were on a different VOB. That's why there were problem.

If you use DVD Decrypter or SmartRipper in "File Mode", it will be much easier to sort out.

i am also trying to rip DBZ episodes. does anyone have any suggestions of what method to use to condense all the episodes onto as few dvd-r's as possible. i would like to be able to watch both the english dub version and the japanese w/ english subs.

for ripping/compressing, you might also want to look at something like DVDShrink or DVD2One. those tools might be beneficial as well.

can those programs take multiple dvds and combine them into 1 single dvd? Also, if anyone can offer a suggestion, what is a good bitrate for dbz or any other cartoon. i know most dvd's use around 8000 kbps but that is for live action stuff. i read somewhere that cartoons can be downsampled considerably without loosing much quality. sorry for the newbie questions, i would just experiment myself but my computer is kind of old and it takes forever to do all that compression. i am also open to converting the DBZ dvd's to divx or any other format that would allow me to put the maximum amount of episodes per DVDr. however, i would like to have the option to watch both the dubbed and subbed versions. i dont know if that can be done with any other formats other than dvd

I am also interested in encoding anime. Do you guys have any preferences on a codec to use? Or any links to guides specifically for anime? Thanks.
