How cool does everyone think they are in this forum???? I mean I know some of us have lives and families but I wanted to know who the real computer geeks(and I don't mean it in a bad way) are. What are your opinions....I know I visit here more than I should.

I'm risking my livelyhood by spending far too much time through the day on here.
But as for cool, I'm 32, I don't know what that means.

  4. im 19 (so we have a large spread of age!)

i dont think making the most of your computer is uncool: compare it to the following example:

you go out and buy a honda TVR, or an Imprezza Sti: these things hit 150 and 0--60 in 5 seconds, but your 30 and passed your driving test over 10 years ago. you want to get the best out of your expensive car, instead of driving into work ever day, so you take a few racing courses, read a few books on manouvers and take the car to a few tracks. you become a member to a car enthusast club. seems very similar right?

personally, i would rather do the car thing, but some perferr to tweakw ith audio, or video- i dont think thats sad. and sharing your experience and knowlege on a forum is generous and a good thing.

thats my opinion (personally i would rather do the car thing, but thats to expensive for a 19 yr old!)

    2) If your question has anything to do with copying PS2/PC/XBox games, find a more appropriate website

Cool means being able to do what you want. Video editing is hard enough, but to get really cool effects by being creative and lots of hard work pays dividends. Everytime someone see's my dvds I create and asks "how did you do that", well it just makes my day!

I never went to school for this, so I learned most of this from sites like this and lots of trial and error. I'm not a Pro, but can do a damn god job of video editing. Most of my videos are family. I got my 7 year old son's 1st homerun edited real nice. It's something he will always be proud of. Now that's real cool!
Got my retirement plans all set. Looks like I only have to work another 5 years after I die........

I agree. Cool is means something different to all of us. I'm 20 and don't spend all my time here. In fact I DO have many different hobbies.

I'm cool. I'm a super badass. In the words of Sir Mix-a-Lot:

"Met Clint Eastwood, slapped his momma!"

(how's THAT for a post that will come back to haunt me??)

but, of course, TGPO is the coolest.

I grew up on rap and always liked SMA. That verse was actually from "IRON MAN" off their Swass album. That was one of the "weaker" tracks and nobody down here ever liked it..it was too phony and taken off of a older heavy metal beat...but songs off that "tape" which is what i had at the time..which were seriously hard hitting were "RIPPIN'" "SWASS" and of course....POSSE ON BROADWAY! The new rap today can't touch older rap like Sir Mix Alot....Run DMC.... GrandMaster Flash...Nairobe and The Awesome foursome...of course noone on these boards will know about Nairobe...but some may know of the other three.

i'm not cool, i'm a loser but that changes sometimes when people see what i do.

when i display people on school tv saving a game or smashing a homerun, my standing goes up.

Same here. Some people would consider me cool and some wouldn't.

Most people who don't think I am cool are people I generally don't want to be around anyway so it doesn't bother me.

It doesn't phase me though either way, I'm not going to change who I am and what I do just to impress someone who wouldn't like the real me.

No one I know consider's thetime I spend creating dvd's on my home movies and spending time online cool.
The word geek comes up a lot.
I taker solace in the knowedge that I have the character to not give a shit what anyone thinks, and do what makes me happy.
It's amazing though how grateful these same people are when they need a PC building, or they have some VHS camcorder footage they need transfering to dvd
A lesson they should be teaching school kids more so is have courage in your convictions, if it feels right for you then do it, screw everyone else.

  18. I am 40. People tell me, I look 30. I am competent at what I do and I am never too old to learn. I am also willing to accept my mistakes.

    Which is cool with me.

Here is my photograph. You tell me how old I look:

Are you refering to The Smiths from the 80s?? I have a song by them on one of my 80s CDs. Pretty good song, but my favorite song on that CD is by Duran Duran.

Are many of ya'll into 80s music?

Yep, and boy did I like DD at the time.
Big fan, but I was in my informative years, I would have been 13 when they were at their peak (1984).
Seems a little dated now, but I still enjoy it (I was turning to the dark side around about that time, aka The Smiths).
