  1. I have quicktime pro, but there is no option to export as mpeg-2. I think I have an mpeg-2 encoder extension, but is this for the OSX version? It's the encoder that came with DVD Studio Pro. What would I need to give QT the export capability it needs?

    thanks

You need to have either FINAL CUT PRO
or DVD STUDIO PRO installed to receive this added functionality from the MPEG-2 Plug IN
    from Apple's Website:

Can I create MPEG-2 content with the QuickTime 6 MPEG-2 Playback Component?
No, the QuickTime 6 MPEG-2 Playback Component does not contain an MPEG-2 encoder, therefore encoding or creating MPEG-2 content is not supported. The component is only a decoder, enabling playback of MPEG-2 content.

If you truly have DVD Studio Pro installed properly, the mpeg2 export option should be in quicktime automatically.
To check if you have it or not, go to your Library folder, then quicktime and see which components you have.

one will be mpeg2 playback (if you have that), the other will be an encoder, if you installed it propelry. If not, and you have dvd studio pro, reinstall it.

  4. I installed DVD Studio pro. Why don't I have the encoder? Is it an OSX/Classic issue?
