  1. How to produce a high quality DVD from Mini DV? I tried with hp dvd writer software, quality just sucks, may be the options I have selected was wrong??

I tried with Pinnacle studio and bbmpeg, bit better but still big difference from original DV quality. or may be my settings are not accurate???

Some people are suggesting TMPGEnc software to convert from AVI to MPEG-2. I downloaded and installed, but it says it was expired. I might have played with it some time back. How should I get around with this?

    It says

    MPEG-2 Encoding function has expired

The free version of TMPGEnc can supply only 30 days limited MPEG-2 Encoding function because of MPEG-2 licensing matter.

If you wish to use unlimited MPEG-2 encoding feature and more, "TMPGEnc Plus" is available for sale! ...

I know it has been discussed at various places in this forum, but I was so tired and confused reading all the threads. If any one can give me direction, that would be great. THanks.

Getting it off of a P2P network is not a legal way to obtain the mpeg2 encoding functions of TMPGenc.

Dont ask for warez, or suggest getting warez

I am sorry I didn't mean that. I thought we can install MPEG 2 feature from other sources and use TMPGEnc with that encoder. And also everywhere people mentioned this one as free, so I thought this could be the way.

anyway I am looking for quality conversion tool, should be same as my DV quality. Which option is the cheaper without losing the quality and where can I get it?

If quality is what u seek then TMPGenc is probably the best choice, however u will have to get the full version for DVD (mpeg2) encoding which costs $40 (i think). the free version is just for VCD (mpeg1 encoding)

I think the only free mpeg2 encoder is bbMPEG, look in the tools section under video encoders.
