A friend of mine in Austria has bought the above video camcorder. He also had the previous model and there he could record video from the camcorder to the computer (edit it) and then transfer it back to the camcorder. With this new model this feature has been disabled. According to his information this is just in the Austrian version (a camcorder that can record from the PC to the camcorder is also classed as a Video recorder and therefore has to be taxed differently......). Sorry for the long intro here is the question: Does anyone know of any hardware/software updates that would override this condition and if yes could you let me know what he has to use.
Thank you in advance for your help.
Regards, John

Try this link for some info: http://www.bealecorner.com/trv900/rm95.html
If you don't need a portable device, there is also a software version of the RM95 called the PC95. It is popular in Europe, where it is mostly used to enable "DV-in" on camcorders not configured that way at the factory -
I downloaded the manual and it still does has DV IN/OUT. So if you have a program like Video Studio 6, for instance, you can capture your DV, edit it, save it as a DV file, and send it back out to your camcorder via firewire.
